Where is the hotel? What's the best way to get there?
Wyndham Parc 55 Hotel is located at 55 Cyril Magnin Street in the heart of San Francisco. The Powell Street BART is mere steps away from the front entrance. There are also several parking garages available nearby, and the hotel itself does have its own parking garage at approximately $50 for the evening.
Can I stay at the hotel for that evening? Is there a discount code?
Of course! You are more than welcome to stay at Parc 55. Treat yourself for a night out in San Francisco! More information will be forthcoming if there will be a discount code for hotel rooms.
How accessible is the hotel?
The hotel adheres to ADA standards and has a lot of options available for those needing assistance. Elevators and escalators are readily accessible from the lobby to the fourth floor, where the event will be held.
How do I bid? I don't want to reveal my name.
During the Silent Auction portion of the event, you will not do that! Instead, you'll be using your bidder number to write on the form. That way, everything stays confidential, unless you tell your friends what you bid on!
I have an item I'd like to donation for the silent auction.
Terrific! Please e-mail our Donations coordinator, Tamara Frijmersum, at firstname.lastname@example.org and she'll help you work out the logistics of making a donation.
This event will have many Deaf people. How will that work out?
No worries! We are working with April Brown of Charity World Auctions, who has extensive experience of working with ADWAS' annual auction events in Seattle, Washington. Last year, she teamed up with JAC Cook, our Reader, and with the awesome interpreters from Convo Communications, everyone was able to understand what was going on and to keep up with the bidding!
What's a Dessert Dash?
Everyone has to have their just dessert after dinner, right? During the Live Auction, delicious cakes/pies donated by various businesses and individuals around the Bay Area will be displayed. Each table will need to discuss and decide together as a group on how much they are willing to chip in to buy a cake/pie. The table with the highest donation will have first choice, and the second highest donation will have second choice, and so on until all the tables have received their dessert!
I'd like to sponsor this event! How might I do this?
We love our sponsors! Please e-mail Sheli at email@example.com and she will put you in touch with David Weiss, our sponsorship coordinator. We have different sponsorship levels and each comes with its own benefits package. David will be able to explain this further. Of course, your business/company logo would be posted on our website!
I'm not able to go but would like to make a donation.
Sorry we won't be seeing you at the Gala! To make a direct monetary donation, you can send a direct PayPal donation to firstname.lastname@example.org. Our treasurer will then follow up with your donation and send you a confirmation e-mail. Thank you!
What are Table Captains?
In order to make this event successful, the Gala committee will be asking various people from CSD and the general Bay Area Deaf community to be a "table captain". The table captain would be responsible for finding 9 guests to sit at his/her table. This helps us save time of selling tickets and we are also able to quickly assess and determine the number of guests who will be attending. If you are interested in being a table captain, or even buying a full table, please e-mail Melinda Harrison Jones at email@example.com.
